Quake in Japan: No decision from SM yet, SNSD conveyed warm words to victims

Due to the current earthquake and Tsunami disaster in Japan, there will be meetings between entertainment agencies in Korea and Japan on March 14th (morning) to discuss and work out their future plans and schedules. Last weekend, due to the disastrous events, agencies were busy in making sure and confirming the safety of their Japanese office and staff. Although music companies in Tokyo are expected to resume their usual business activities, delay of album releases and cancellation of scheduled activities is highly possible.

A representative of SM Entertainment said, “The safety of our employees in Japan is more important than anything else. Therefore, we have not discussed any matters pertaining to business. We will have a meeting on March 14th. As of now, there is still no decision if any of the activities will be canceled/postponed”.

Meanwhile, SNSD sent their deepest condolences and prayers to the victims of the quakes through a mobile fansite. Here is the message from the girls which has been translated by our friends at Soshified:

“We would like to express our deepest sympathy to the victims of the Tohoku Pacific Ocean Earthquake. We came to know about the news of the earthquake in Thailand. Regarding SNSD who have activities in Japan, this is not somebody else’s problem and all of the members are concerned. Even now, the aftershocks, tsunami and disasters continuously occur and there are serious damages. This current condition pains our hearts very much. We pray from our hearts that everybody will peacefully overcome this hardship.“

Angels are back! First original Japanese single "MR. TAXI" in April

Last year, 9 member Korean group “SNSD” debuted in Japan. Universal Music announced that in May SNSD will be having their first Japan Tour. The members couldn’t hold in their excitement, “This has been our goal since last year and we’re so happy that we can have a nation-wide tour in Japan. We’re quite excited and nervous!”. Furthermore, SNSD will be releasing their first original Japanese single on April 13th called “MR. TAXI”.

The members are Sooyoung (21), Tiffany (21), Jessica (21), Hyoyeon (21), Seohyun (19), Yoona (20), Taeyeon (21), Yuri (21) and Sunny (21). This is the first time the girls will be having an all-out solo concert in Japan. The tour will begin on May 18th at Yoyogi National Stadium in Tokyo and go to places like Osaka-jo Hall (Osaka). They will have their tour in 4 places: Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka; and will have 7 performances total. Around 60,000 people are expected to attend. The members commented, “We’re looking forward to eating delicious food all over Japan. Please anticipate our first tour in Japan. And definitely come to one of the venues!”.

The new song “MR. TAXI” is said to be a girl-ish dance song. The single will be a double A-side, the other song will be the Japanese version of “Run Devil Run” which was #1 on Recochoku’s Chaku Uta Full Ranking back in January. The first press limited edition and limited pressing will both include a DVD with the Japanese music video of “Run Devil Run” and will include a photobook as well. The jackets from the First Press Limited Edition version will be different from the Regular Edition’s jacket.
